Q&A: DIY Enthusiast Ashley Shares Journey to Joining Behr

As a Talent Acquisition Specialist, and a first-generation college graduate, Ashely Pugliese understands how to source high-quality talent that would contribute to the colorful Behr culture. After all, not too long ago, she was on the other end applying to join the company. An avid DIYer of home projects and renovations, Ashley was already familiar with BEHR® and decided to apply after being impressed by the company’s reputation and products. Now working for Behr in the People Services department, she can confidently say the organization’s welcoming atmosphere and positive spirit are equally impressive and admirable.

How did you join the Behr team?

I was interested in joining Behr because of my familiarity with the products. As someone who works on many DIY home projects and renovations, I’ve always been impressed by the Behr name and knew it was a company that aligned with my passion and interests. When I researched the company further, I was even more impressed by the company’s inclusive culture and emphasis on employee development and growth. I applied for a Talent Acquisition Specialist role and met with the People Services Team. Meeting the team made me feel even more confident in the company’s values. Shortly after, I was offered a position and the rest is history.

What does a typical day in life at Behr look like for you?

I’m responsible for finding talent for the company, specifically for our Midwest Region as well as staffing for our Distribution and Manufacturing facilities and Sales team. My day typically includes reviewing applications and resumes, followed by conducting phone screens and virtual interviews with potential candidates to determine their qualifications. I also work closely with our People Leaders at Behr to understand their needs and requirements for each position while providing guidance and support for candidates throughout the hiring process.

What is something you are proud of?

I’m proud of my work ethic and the success that I have achieved in my career so far. Being a first-generation college graduate, I paved my own path. I have always maintained a strong work ethic and have been willing to put in the time and effort to achieve my goals. I believe that hard work and dedication are essential to achieving success and I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished to date.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I’m an Orange County, CA native. I love spending time outdoors, including hiking, kayaking, camping, and spending time with my two dogs, Rex and Herbert. When I’m not outdoors, you’ll find me working on home DIY renovation projects. Most recently, I worked on my bathroom remodel, including restoring the old vanity and refreshing the space with new paint, tile, lighting, and sink fixtures.
