As a recently promoted manager and avid hiker, Quality Plant Manager Juvy Halili continues to reach new heights in her professional and personal life. And while new experiences may initially bring apprehension, Juvy believes the key to overcoming obstacles and achieving success in life is rooted in the support of her family and embracing her heritage.
Tell us about your heritage and family background.
I was born in the Philippines and moved to the United States when I was 10 years old. Even though we moved when I was young, my sister and I continue to practice and embrace our culture daily, including speaking our Filipino dialect (Kapangpangan) and eating home-cooked Filipino food my mom makes.
What are your hobbies and interests?
My main hobby is hiking. The first hike that sparked my love for the sport was a snowy hike at Mt. Baden Powell in the San Gabriel Mountains. After that, I promised myself that I will hike as many Southern California peaks as I can, including the top six highest ones. I’ve conquered three out of six so far!
What is something you are proud of?
I just recently became a Quality Manager at Behr Paint Company. It’s my first role as a manager with direct reports, so I’m both excited and apprehensive. But I’m looking forward to the new challenges and learnings the role will bring with the support of my family by my side.
